is an accomplished pianist who has worked in piano bars and hotels, at weddings and

Ian is largely self-taught in classical piano, following on from his early grounding
with the Trinity College of Music in the early 1970’s. Ian then turned his talents
to playing by ear and later developed the art of music writing and composing. In
1992, he obtained a publishing deal with Bourne Music in London on the strength of
song material that he had written.
In the last few years, Ian’s love of classical music has influenced him in the development
of his own brand of atmospheric music composition in the form of a piano concerto,
music for piano and violin, piano and clarinet, piano and cello, many short piano
pieces, a 4-part jazz piece for a saxophone ensemble, and jazz-influenced piano music.
He is currently working on his first symphony, ‘The Lakeland’.
